As a kid I remember renting this game, and never leaving the center area. I would go to the shops and do tricks but I had no idea that there were events to be completed. It would always end in me running out of time. I can’t say if I enjoyed it or not, but I’m going to guess it not since it isn’t a huge stand out game for me during that time. I skated a lot as a kid so there is a part of me that probably wanted to like it, but never felt like I was getting anything done.
After beating the game today it actually left me wanting to play it again. The controls are very simple and don’t always do what you think they will, but I’ve only played it once so I’m sure it will become easier over time. The events are short and sweet, and when you do them well it feels really good. It’s nice that there is a built in continue system that restarts you with enough tickets to complete whatever class you’re currently on. This ensures that anyone can beat the game if they want to.
As for speedrunning, I could see myself maybe doing a handful of speedrun attempts just to improve my time, but I don’t think I like it enough to go for a WR or anything like that. Overall a fun and simple game that is worth at least one playthrough.
